The Chapter
What began as a group of friends in Regina daring each other to show up and compete became, in 2015, the first Monarch Games - a one-day gauntlet through Thunder Gym, the Golden Mile bowling lanes and the public field house.
Nine events, one scoring sheet: 10.5 points for a win down the line to zero, minus three for a no-show. Bench, pull-ups, vertical, shot put, the 60 and the 800 - then bowling to close it out and crown the champ.
Every cost was split to the cent and every weigh-in was posted to the group chat. The format was deadpan-serious; the brotherhood behind it was the real point.
“We the People of the Monarch Lions, to form our union, establish our constitution to protect our foundation, and build a future for the lions, their families and our communities.”
